We provide acupuncture services as a complimentary and alternative medicine based on the belief that a medical care provider can treat the whole person–body, mind, and spirit. Designed to alleviate stress, reduce pain, and improve energy and balance, this centuries-old form of alternative medicine uses ultra-thin, sterile needles inserted below the dermis of the skin to stimulate energy points.
Acupuncture is used to relieve a variety of symptoms, including but not limited to:
- Side effects from chemotherapy and radiation treatment
- Pain
- Headaches
- Menstruation and fertility issues
- Symptoms of menopause
- Bowel and digestion issues
- Fatigue
- General stress
Our acupuncture specialists are licensed by the State of Illinois and have extensive credentials and training in Chinese medicine, integrative medicine and acupuncture.
Will my insurance cover my acupuncture treatment?
Some private health plans will cover acupuncture services and others may not. We recommend you call your insurance company to see if acupuncture is covered in your plan.
In the event your health plan does not cover acupuncture services, we do offer reasonable self-pay rates:
- $130 for an initial visit (including consultation and procedure)
- $90 each for subsequent visits
What should I expect during my visit?
Visits usually last 45 to 60 minutes. It typically takes three to four visits to make an impact on the problem. In general, acupuncture is a very relaxing experience. The needles are very thin and only minimally felt. We ask that you please wear comfortable clothing.
Acupuncture services are available at two locations:
- Saint Joseph Hospital - 2900 North Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, Illinois, 60657
- Seton Family Health Center - 711 West North Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, 60610
