Nutrition Services
Proper nutrition is essential to helping your body manage the effects of cancer treatment - surgery, radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy. But appetite changes can make this challenging.
That's why we provide exceptional nutrition support, so you can build your strength, reduce the risk of infection and give your treatment the best chance for success.
Our nutrition programs are designed to help you throughout treatment and recovery. Our dietitians, who have a special focus in nutrition and cancer, make recommendations for a well-balanced diet that works with your individual treatment plan. Plus, our food service staff strives to accommodate any special dietary needs - from providing Kosher meals to vegetarian and vegan options.
We also offer:
- Nutrition Counseling - This helps ensure that your meals do not interfere with pre-existing conditions - such as diabetes, food allergies or high cholesterol - and gives you strategies for managing any appetite changes related to your treatment. Outpatient services require a physician referral.
- Nutrition and Side-Effects Management - Since there are potential side effects of your care, we provide practical suggestions for managing issues related to appetite, food intolerances and any other challenges. And that lets you maximize therapy outcomes.
- Recurrence - As you complete your therapy, you may have questions about the role of nutrition in reducing your risk of disease recurrence. We can help you build your natural defenses through appropriate meal planning and the reduction of risk factors.
- Community Discussions - The right information can be one of your most powerful treatment tools. That's why we provide community seminars about nutrition and cancer prevention.
