Cancer
Breast Cancer Support Group
This monthly support group is for women diagnosed with breast cancer. Linda Ritt, adjunct professor in Counseling and Human Services at Roosevelt University, will provide valuable information about healing in an environment where group members can share personal experiences and provide emotional support for one another. Sessions will take place the third Thursday of every month from 7 to 8 p.m. in the hospital’s imaging conference room on the third floor. Cancer Support Group
Do you have cancer? Are you looking for additional emotional support? Join Saint Joseph Hospital's Cancer Support Group for men and women battling the disease. Discussions are facilitated by a social worker and nurse. Guest speakers are occasionally invited to address the group. Free.

Digital Mammogram Screenings
Why wait months to get a mammogram? Saint Joseph Hospital has exceptional digital imaging services right in your neighborhood, without the wait.
Appointments are available seven days a week, including evenings, usually
within 24 to 48 hours. A written referral from a physician is required.

Ovarian Cancer Support Group
This monthly support group provides help and information for anyone who has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Topics covered during these meetings are determined by participants. Please call 773-665-6992 for more information or to register. Free.

Our Diabetes Education Program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association for excellence in diabetes education. Diabetes self management and nutrition counseling available in individual and group sessions. A written order from a physician is required.

Learn how to maintain control of your blood glucose level during pregnancy. Glucose monitoring, nutrition, exercise and fetal well-being will be discussed. This one-time class presents the benefits of breastfeeding for you and your baby. Production of breastmilk, prevention of frequently encountered problems, common concerns, and the partner's role are discussed. Partners, grandparents, and others are welcome. Registration and payment are required prior to attending class and should be sent in the enclosed envelope. The fee for this class is $15. A snack is provided. Join the Mom Network, a weekly support group for new mothers that provides parenting support and information. Sibling Tours
Sibling tours are designed to help big-brother-or big-sister-to-be feel more comfortable when baby arrives. Children will have an opportunity to learn about the Family Birthplace and see where mom will deliver the baby. Parents are given a recommended readling list and sibling rivalry information as well assuggested activities to smooth the transition for the sibling-to-be. Children must be two years of age or older to participate. Tours are by appointment only.

Nutrition for Runners and Endurance Athletes (SJH)
For any endurance athlete who is devoted to improving their performance, better nutrition can make the difference between setting a personal record or having a disastrous race. The best athletes are those who consider their daily nutrition as carefully as they do their training. Please join us as we talk about nutrition for the endurance athlete during training, race day nutrition and proper nutrition for recovery. Balu Natarajan, MD, is one of the few physicians in Chicago who is Board Certified in both Sports Medicine and Internal Medicine. Dr. Natarajan serves on the Medical Team of the Chicago Marathon and has extensive experience with patients preparing for endurance events. He has served as team physician for the Chicago Storm and has traveled to Brazil with the US World Cup Beach Soccer Team. Dr. Natarajan will address prevention and treatment.

Sibling Tours
Sibling tours are designed to help big-brother-or big-sister-to-be feel more comfortable when baby arrives. Children will have an opportunity to learn about the Family Birthplace and see where mom will deliver the baby. Parents are given a recommended readling list and sibling rivalry information as well assuggested activities to smooth the transition for the sibling-to-be. Children must be two years of age or older to participate. Tours are by appointment only.

Learn how to maintain control of your blood glucose level during pregnancy. Glucose monitoring, nutrition, exercise and fetal well-being will be discussed. Insulin instruction will be offered if recommended by your physician. A written order from a physician is needed. Individual sessions available by appointment.

Join Diana Banducci, Certified Yoga instructor, to learn Hatha Yoga stretching and breathing techniques for increasing flexibility and easing tension and stress. This class is designed for adults 62 and older.
The class starts Saturday, June 16, 2012 and runs for 10 weeks until August 25. (There is no class on Saturday, July 14th.) Registration and payment are required by June 1, 2012. Space is limited. Class spot is not reserved until payment is received.
Nonrestrictive clothing is suggested. Please bring a mat or large bath towel to class. A check for $80 made payable to Saint Joseph Hospital and mailed in the enclosed envelope will confirm your reservation. The classes will take place in the Boikan Conference Center, Room #1 on the second floor at Saint Joseph Hospital, 2900 North Lake Shore Drive.

Neighborhood Health Fest
Join us for Saint Joseph Hospital's Neighborhood Health Fest. The program will take place from 12 noon to 3pm, and will be held in the Stone Building Parking Lot, 2837 N. Sheridan. All ages are invited. The Fest will include: Cholesterol and diabetes screenings, weight analysis, back to school physicals (limited quantities and Immunization card required for children's vaccines), "Ask the Doctor" booths, health information, free snacks and beverages. Complimentary parking provided.
Please note all screenings will be on a first come, first served basis until supplies and/or time run out.

Clothes Closet
The Clothes Closet is a resale shop for the community. Obtain or donate gently used clothes, shoes, books, housewares, and more. Stop by anytime to drop off donations, which are tax-deductible. The shop is located at 2913 N. Commonwealth Ave. For more information, call 773-665-3167.
The hours of operation are on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the last Friday of every month from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., or by appointment.
