Messenger Model Program

What is the Messenger Model Program?

The Resurrection Health Care Preferred (RHCP) Messenger Model Program contracts with non-risk (i.e. PPO) health plans. All contracts are fee-for-service.

Who is eligible to join?

The Program is open to any physician in good standing who serves on the medical staff of a Resurrection Health Care (RHC) hospital.

How does the Program work?

The Program centralizes health plan contracting and credentialing, eliminating duplicate and time-consuming work for physicians. Physicians attest to the level of reimbursement they are willing to accept and the Program represents that to the payors. The Program also aligns contracting activity with RHC hospitals, making it easy for physicians to access the same plans under contract at RHC hospitals, avoiding patient coverage problems.

Additional Requirements:

  • Minimum malpractice limits of $1/$3 million.
  • Annual dues payment of $300 per physician.

Physician Benefits

  • Reduced Paperwork. Cooperation with Resurrection Health Care's Centralized Verification Office (CVO) and Delegated Credentialing status with many health plans streamlines the credentialing process.

  • Efficiency. The Messenger Model Program appeals to payors by offering a single customized form to contract with physicians, easing payors' administrative burden.

  • Flexibility. Physicians can selectively participate (opt in/opt out) in health plan contracts.

  • Centralized Negotiation of Language. RHCP's contracting staff is able to use their considerable contracting experience to craft appropriate contract terms with fee-for-service health plans.

  • Regulatory Compliance. Management of one system-wide program can provide greater assurance of compliance with regulatory guidelines related to Messenger Model contracting programs. However, due to federal regulations, no negotiation of rates takes place.

  • Administration. RHCP staff tracks physicians' participation status and audits plan rosters to ensure accurate marketing.
